Joey's Legacy
RESCUE & REHOMING
Joey's Legacy was founded in september 2009. You can read the history of how we started and the story of Joey by clicking here
Over the course of 14 years, our organisation has operated as a rescue dedicated to specific breeds. Initially focused on rescuing and rehoming boxers, our expertise expanded to include other brachycephalic breeds. Given the unique medical challenges these breeds often face, we have developed a specialisation in rescuing and rehabilitating dogs with medical conditions, as well as nurturing handrear puppies and assisting various rescue groups, pounds, and veterinary practices in need of support. In 2021, our team deliberated on further advancing our rescue efforts by transitioning into an all-breed rescue. We have since welcomed dogs of all breeds, while maintaining our focus on brachycephalic breeds, medical cases, and hand-rearing. We remain committed to accepting any dog in need, regardless of its breed. Although our main team is located in Liverpool and Warrington, we are fortunate to have volunteers in various regions. Operating without a physical rescue centre, we rely on a network of foster homes in the North West of England. We also have 2 small blocks of kennels in Liverpool and Warrington. We are always seeking dedicated volunteers. Increased support enables us to assist more dogs in need. We treat every dog we take in as if they were our own and we are dedicated to ensuring we find the best possible homes for each and every one.

We aim to support those who are struggling to afford pet food, within the Liverpool and surrounding areas.
Due to the cost of living crisis, animals are being given up in astronomical numbers. Numbers we have never seen before in the UK. Many of these pets are adored by their owners, who have now found themselves a victim of the cost of living and feel they can no longer afford to feed or care for them. Seven in ten pet owners are worried about the cost of caring for their animals and a fifth are concerned about how they'll afford to feed them. Rescue centres are all full to bursting, with huge waiting lists of animals needing to be given up.
Council pounds are overflowing and dogs are now being put to sleep daily π
If we can help a pet stay with their loving families, by providing food whilst they get themselves back on their feet, that is one less animal having to go into rescue to be rehomed.
If you know of someone who is struggling to feed their pets, please direct them to us and we will try to help where we can β€οΈ
